The Missing Salesforce Features
It’s great to see many new features with every new Salesforce release, and I enjoy the challenge of the treasure hunt – finding them before the official release notes are published. However, one of the major sources of great ideas for new or improved features is the Salesforce Idea Exchange.
Steve Molis (Steve Mo) is believed to have suggested that the Idea Exchange is the place where good ideas go to die. With the current state of the Idea Exchange, perhaps he was right!
Several times, the Idea Exchange has been revived, with Parker Harris stepping in a couple of years ago to allocate some additional resources to get some ideas moving before he went off to Slack. Since then, it seems that many ideas have been forgotten or just not given the love and attention that we expect.
So we just sit and patiently wait, ever hopeful that one day, just maybe, something magically will happen (that is not Agentforce related).

Dynamic Forms
The push to bring all standard objects up to speed to support Dynamic Forms seems to have run out of steam. There has been no progress on this project over the past 2-3 releases. Specifically, these objects are overdue to have support for Dynamic Forms, having been originally scheduled for FY25 or before:
- Campaigns
- Campaign Members
- Events
- Tasks
- Opportunity Products
There are some updates here in this discussion group:
Experience Cloud
I’m also not able to find any progress on Dynamic Forms for Experience Cloud sites. This link shows an idea that is 5 1/2 years old now, and still no action.
Role Hierarchy
A couple of releases back, the Role Hierarchy was given a modern list view, but we lost the hierarchical view that visually showed the relationships between roles in a simple tree format. This resulted in admins having to choose between either a proper list view or the old view, but retaining the tree hierarchy. Why does a new feature lose functionality?
Web-To-Case Attachments
The ability to attach a file to a case when initially creating the case is still missing, despite this idea having 46,260 points on the Idea Exchange.
Case Description – Rich Text
The beta rollout for this feature was paused 6 months ago – 9,400 points on IdeaExchange and “In Development” but it has just stopped.
Lightning Email Templates
The ability to use related fields when building Lightning Email Templates is still missing. This functionality works in Classic Email Templates, but not Lightning!

What is the point of IdeaExchange if Salesforce continues to ignore basic admin functionality for 16 years, while releasing stuff no one asked for or has very few votes?
(asked Ken Shvetz on this thread)
Road Maps
As customers, we really appreciate Road Maps because they help us plan our future development. While we understand that resource restrictions and unforeseen issues can impact the planned delivery dates, but at least they give us a general idea of what’s coming.
Unfortunately, many of the roadmaps are out of date and have not been updated for a couple of releases.

Maybe we need to start a campaign to bring back Parker Harris from Slack? Now he seems to have started the process of killing off Chatter, maybe he can come back and kill off some of these old ideas that have been ignored for way too long?
