Multi-Column List View Sort

A beta feature in the upcoming Winter ’25 release is the ability to perform a Multi-Column List View sort.

This has been a long-awaited feature requested on the Idea Exchange for many years.

There are some pre-requisites for a Multi-Column List View Sort:

  • You need to be on a Winter ’25 release (or greater)
  • You need to enable the feature (note it is a beta feature)
  • The object must be LWC-enabled

Winter ’25

This is a Winter ’25 feature so unless you have a pre-release org or a preview org that is already on Winter ’25 you may need to wait for the Winter ’25 release before you can test this feature.

Enable the Feature

This feature is not enabled by default, you need to enable it first in setup:

Setup -> User Interface -> User Interface

Enable sort by multiple columns (beta)

Enable the setting for a Multi-Column List View Sort.

LWC Enabled Object

Not all objects can use this feature yet. They must be LWC-Enabled.

How to test this: If you can create a Dynamic Form for the object, then it is LWC-Enabled!

Select the new Sort by multiple Columns icon to choose the fields you want to sort by:

configure Multi-Column List View Sort

Choose up to five (5) columns to sort by:

select fields for sorting in the Multi-Column List View Sort

Here is the result:

Multi-Column List View Sort

It’s a pity the Multi-Column List View sort is only in beta and we have to wait until Winter ’25 but at least we can hope this will be Generally Available (GA) in the next release after that.
