TechDemo

What is TechDemo and how does it work?

TechDemo is a new solution for those struggling to get their application noticed on the AppExchange. We provide a service to review, refine, recruit, and demonstrate your product to potential customers. We get the attention of your potential customers in a friendly, technical environment where they can ask questions and see the product in action without the fear and hassle of the sales pitch.

This service has five stages:

  • Review – we install, test, and review your product. This includes inspecting every part of your AppExchange listing, your customer reviews, installation process, getting started documentation, support documentation, pricing, website, and any social media we find about your product, company, and key staff.
  • Refine – based on the results of the review, we have a frank but fair discussion about what needs to improve and seek a timeline from you for these improvements. We may terminate the service at this point if we feel either the product or your commitment is not up to the high standard we expect.
  • Recruit – we set a date and time for a 30-minute webinar demonstration and actively market this to potential new customers via multiple channels. It’s like an extended demo jam but with time for questions.
  • Demonstrate – we host the webinar and one of your staff does the technical presentation under our direction. They answer questions from us along the way (most are pre-prepared) and at the end participate in a Q&A session with the webinar participants. There is no place for a sales pitch in this webinar (that comes later). We will do a trial run of the webinar before the live event to check timing, resolve technical issues, and practice your question responses. The demo is focussed on what the product does, how it does it, and how this can be used to solve real business problems.
  • Follow up – after the webinar, we will provide you with:
  1. The recorded video and audio of the webinar
  2. A list of the Names, Emails, Companies and Job Titles of all participants

At this stage, you have a list of qualified leads who have participated in the webinar and Q&A session. It is now up to your sales team to follow up with your sales pitch and make the sales.

How is that different from a sales demo?

The difference is this is being run by a Salesforce Expert with a deep knowledge of Salesforce, 35+ years in the IT industry, and a strong social media following, plus he’s not a salesperson. It’s a technical demonstration of the product and its capabilities in a friendly, non-sales environment. You will get honest and frank opinions and questions from the audience, not a passive audience just watching you do your magic. Think of it like a virtual Dreamforce booth where you can get interested visitors from all over the world to visit for a 30-minute extended demo jam.

How do we get paid?

We ask for a setup fee and a commission on any sale made within 30 days of the webinar data where that sale involves a webinar participant or their company. The actual rate of the commission is negotiable. If there is no sale made then your cost is only the setup fee.

TechDemo is all about showcasing Salesforce apps. Once published on the Salesforce AppExchange, some apps seem to disappear and are hard to find – lost among a sea of competing apps.

We aim to solve that problem by carefully reviewing the app and all supporting documentation and marketing material and then preparing and hosting a webinar to highlight the key features of the products. The webinars are run as a strictly “sales-free zone” and participants are asked to bring their questions, not their credit cards.

Know a product we should review?

Not every product will make the grade! We make an assessment early in the review process if we think we can add value or not and may not accept a product for our TechDemo service.

If you have or know of a product you think we should review, please contact us and provide us with some details.
